art in the making. (there's a contemporary arts museum behind my building). please note the ferris wheel in the far right corner, it figures prominently in my life here.

lunch - gallant attempts at english in the crew cafeteria. as you may imagine, i bring my lunch every day. altho, i have fallen in love with onigiri - rice balls with filling. my faves: salmon or umeboshi (pickled plums).

sadly i haven't left osaka yet, so i have no exciting travel entries. rehearsal goes along...show is scheduled to open march 18. in the squirrel world of the show (flying squirrel in japanese is "momonga" - a word i particularly like the sound of - grammar be damned) there are: the drunk momonga, the angry momonga, the funny momonga, and the three sad girl momongas (because we don't like the costumes very much - altho there are a few costumes i like even less). what else. here are some japanese nick names: "spidey" for the stunt coordinator, "magic hands" for the personal trainer/physical therapist/masseuse on hand, "lost" for one of the japanese aerialists, so named because he got lost in his hometown of osaka when meeting up with some american performers. a bunch of the japanese performers are breakdancers/b-girls and boys interestingly enough. jap-crunk-ing. here's a picture of us hard at work...
